How to install MAC OS X 10.6.6i - Snow Leopard on a regular PC
Lately, I have installed MAC OS X 10.6.6i -Snow Leopard on my home PC, and as many of my friends have tried to install it with no luck, I thought I should make it my first post in this blog, and dedicate it to my dearest friends.
- First of all, you should download "torrent" the MAC OS X 10.6.6i - Snow Leopard DVD.
- The second step is to burn the downloaded image to a DVD. In order to do that using Nero, follow below steps:
- Open Nero StartSmart.
- from "Backup" in the top navigation, select "Burn Image to Disk"
- Nero Express will be opened, allowing you to select the image "downloaded file".
- Select your recorder, and the disk.
- After burning the image to a DVD, you should prepare your PC to install MAC OS X on it, by:
- Updating your BIOS.
- Tweaking your BIOS setting as follows:
- First, go to Advanced BIOS Features and set the First Boot Device to CDROM.
- Configure SATA to run in AHCI mode in the Integrated Peripherals menu. You’ll need to set both PCH SATA Control Mode and Onboard SATA/IDE Control Mode to AHCI.
- Set the HPET Mode to 64-bit mode in the Power Management Setup.
- Exit the BIOS settings saving your changes.
- Insert the burnt DVD, and restart your PC.
- When you see the screen below, select Mac OS X Install DVD and press Enter.
If all goes well, you should eventually see the language selection screen for the installer.
- Select your language and click the arrow to proceed.
- Next, you need to partition your drive. Click on Utilities > Disk Utility.
- Select your disk drive.
- Click Partition.
- Select 1 Partition for the partition scheme.
- Enter a name for the partition (I used Hackintosh).
- Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the Format.
- Click Options, select GUID Partition Table, and then click OK.
- Click Apply.
- Quit Disk Utility
- Proceed with the installation [Install on the Hackintosh partition].
